KESAR KEHWA

Kesar Kehwa is a traditional Kashmiri tea infused with saffron (kesar), cardamom, and other aromatic spices. It’s a fragrant and warming beverage often enjoyed for its unique combination of flavour’s. Here’s a basic recipe for making Kesar Kehwa :

Ingredients:

~ 4 cups water

~ 1-2 teaspoons green tea leaves or 2 green tea bags

~ 1/4 teaspoon saffron strands (kesar)

~ 4-5 green cardamom pods, crushed

~ 4-5 almonds, sliced or chopped

~ 1-2 tablespoons honey or sweeten to taste

~ A few strands of slivered almonds and pistachios for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1.  In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a simmer.

2. Add green tea leaves or tea bags to the simmering water.

3. Crush the saffron strands slightly between your fingers and add them to the pot. This helps release the    flavour and colour of saffron.

4. Add crushed green cardamom pods and sliced almonds to the pot.

5. Allow the tea to simmer for about 5-7 minutes to infuse the flavours. You can adjust the simmering time      based on how strong you prefer your tea.

6. Remove the pot from heat and strain the tea to remove the tea leaves, cardamom pods, and almonds.

7. Stir in honey or sweeten to taste. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.

8. Pour the Kesar Kehwa into cups.

9. Optionally, garnish with slivered almonds and pistachios.

10. Serve the Kesar Kahwa hot and enjoy the aromatic blend of saffron, cardamom, and other spices.
