SAFFRON MILK

SAFFRON MILK

Saffron milk, also known as Kesar Doodh, is a rich and aromatic beverage made by infusing warm milk with saffron strands. It’s a popular drink in many cultures and is often enjoyed for its unique flavor and potential health benefits. Here’s a simple recipe for making saffron milk:

Ingredients:

~ 1 cup milk

~ A pinch of saffron strands (kesar)

~ 1-2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)

~ A small piece of cardamom (optional), crushed

~ Chopped nuts for garnish (such as almonds or pistachios)

Instructions:

1. In a small bowl, add a pinch of saffron strands to 1-2 tablespoons of warm milk. Allow the saffron to soak for about 10-15 minutes. This step is essential to infuse the saffron’s flavor and color into the milk.

2. In a saucepan, heat 1 cup of milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling.

3. Add the soaked saffron and its milk to the warm milk in the saucepan. If you’re using cardamom, add the crushed cardamom to the milk as well.

4. Stir the milk gently to evenly distribute the saffron and cardamom.

5. Add sugar to the milk and continue stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Adjust the sugar quantity according to your taste.

6. Allow the saffron milk to simmer for a few minutes, but do not let it boil.

7. Once the saffron milk is warm and infused with the desired flavors, remove it from the heat.

8. Pour the saffron milk into a cup.

9. Garnish with chopped nuts, such as almonds or pistachios, on top.

10. Serve the saffron milk warm and enjoy its rich and aromatic taste.

Saffron milk is not only delicious but is also believed to have various health benefits. It’s a soothing and comforting beverage, especially when served warm before bedtime.
